At a glance
Pulse and Water College grew from alternative education for vulnerable Key Stage 4 learners into a registered provision in 2014. Individualised learning remains central, with small groups and a maximum class size of eight shaping the co-educational community for ages 11 to 18. The main offer runs through Key Stages 3 and 4, while a 16+ programme is being rolled out.
The curriculum covers English, mathematics, science, PE, PSHE, French, art and music at Key Stage 3 and 4. Key Stage 4 adds biology, chemistry, physics, religious education and employability, with GCSE and Functional Skills examinations entered through AQA, Edexcel and OCR. Three activity afternoons each week bring student conferencing, creativity, cooking, gaming and trips into the timetable.
Careers and employability sit alongside resilience and self-regulation, while additional needs are treated as the responsibility of all staff. Referrals may come from parents, organisations, borough commissioners or local schools. The setting is non-boarding; its April 2026 inspection found expected standards across the evaluated areas and all independent-school standards met.
