A Catholic foundation and former priory estate shape the character of Princethorpe College. The community opened in 1966 after the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart acquired a site developed by Benedictine nuns. It began as a boys' senior school, became fully co-educational in 1995 and ended boarding in 2004. The Foundation now carries the College through to Sixth Form as a co-educational day provision.
Year 7 begins with a broad, knowledge-rich curriculum before the Year 9 and 10 options processes give pupils more scope to specialise. GCSE study combines core subjects with options, while Sixth Form students can take A levels or BTECs alongside an Extended Curriculum Option. Sport, music, drama and other activities sit beyond lessons, and supervised Prep extends the day for pupils who need it.
Registration routes cover Years 7 to 10, with later applications considered when places are available. External Sixth Form applicants need to meet the academic requirements and fit the College's ethos. Princethorpe is now a co-educational, independent and non-boarding provision with Sixth Form study continuing the senior years on the former priory estate.
