Oxford Montessori Schools

Oxford Montessori Schools is now presented under the name Oxford Millwood School, while the same learning community remains organised as OMS Primary School and OMS Seniors. Its distinctive approach brings safety, nature, creativity, independence and resilience together through mixed-age, child-led learning. The two stages build on one another, with pupils encouraged to take responsibility for their work and relationships.

At OMS Seniors, active learning, restorative relationships and regular feedback sit alongside a curriculum covering English, maths, science, humanities, modern languages, creative arts, physical and outdoor education, digital skills and PSHEE. The provision serves pupils from age 2 to 17, with no boarding or sixth form, and the senior phase includes preparation for GCSE study.

The 10-acre rural setting is part of the educational experience rather than just a backdrop. Environmental study, land stewardship, gardening, ecology and outdoor skills sit beside workshops, performances, exhibitions, clubs, trips and pupil-led initiatives. These activities give the Montessori principles practical expression and allow learning to move between classroom, grounds and community life.

Entry begins with an enquiry, personal tour or open day, followed by registration of interest, an offer and acceptance of a place. The route covers early years, primary and senior provision and is organised around finding the right stage for a child, rather than a separate entrance examination.
