Our Lady of Sion School

The Congregation of Our Lady of Sion founded this community in 1862, and its original buildings remain part of daily life. Nursery, Junior, Senior and Sixth Form provision now form one inter-denominational, co-educational journey, with the Catholic foundation visible in the chapel, pastoral life and the motto "Consideration Always".

Senior pupils combine English, mathematics and the three sciences with humanities, languages, creative, practical and expressive subjects. Technology, digital media and higher-order thinking are part of the academic approach, while the timetable is arranged without fixed option columns where possible. That flexibility gives pupils room to build a GCSE programme across a broad range of interests.

Learning reaches into the surrounding community through outreach, Royal Society STEM enrichment and careers-related work with local businesses. Trips, assemblies, sport, music, drama, art and the 1862 chapel add variety to the week, while a new Sixth Form centre supports the oldest pupils. Boys and girls can join through the sixth form, with registration, open days and taster events providing the direct route into the through-school.

Form tutors and an open home-school relationship anchor pastoral care in the day-school setting. The result is a long-established Worthing community that combines a clear religious heritage with modern subjects, practical experiences and a flexible senior curriculum, without separating academic work from service, creativity and everyday relationships.
