Orion School

Orion School is built around a specialist response to social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Pupils aged 13 to 16 may be referred by surrounding schools or have places commissioned by local authorities including Birmingham and Warwickshire. Individual learning profiles and support plans shape the work, with external professionals involved where needed and a programme linked to pupils' interests and ambitions.

Academic and vocational learning share the timetable. Motor-vehicle studies move from health and safety through components and systems to practical tasks, while work experience, visits and other activities extend learning beyond lessons. In June 2026, inclusion and personal development and wellbeing met the expected standard, as did safeguarding.

The June 2026 position also included important areas needing attention. Achievement, attendance and behaviour, curriculum and teaching, and leadership and governance needed improvement, while requirements were not met in the quality of education, welfare, health and safety, and leadership and management. The concerns included uneven adaptation of teaching, gaps left after absence, attendance analysis that did not target support sufficiently and too few staff trained to administer first aid.
