Overview

Reading's OneSchool Global campus took its present form after a late-2019 move to a site near the town's railway hub. Light-filled classrooms, collaborative zones and technology-enabled spaces are arranged across several levels, giving the campus a connected, contemporary feel. It now brings primary and secondary pupils together, with senior provision continuing through GCSE and sixth-form years.

The senior community also carries a history from its former Stoke Poges setting. The Stoke Poges and Wexham Elementary Schools were built in 1875, and their Grade II listed building was renovated as a learning centre before the move to Reading. The present campus is therefore not presented as a fresh start: it continues a school community that has already adapted its teaching spaces more than once.

Teaching follows the Learning to Learn structure of Assignment, Lesson, Study and Tutorial. Direct lessons provide the shared teaching, Study allows pupils to work independently or with others, and Tutorials connect them with subject specialists when a particular question needs attention. As pupils grow older, the balance is intended to move towards greater self-direction, while the Reading campus keeps the local community and its own physical setting at the centre.

Reading combines a co-educational day setting with provision from seven through the sixth form; pupils do not board. Its character comes from the meeting of two scales: a local campus with a clear Reading identity, and a wider teaching network that can extend the specialist support available to older pupils.
