Norwich School

Norwich School's history reaches back to 1096, when it was established as an episcopal grammar school. Re-founded under a Royal Charter in 1547, it moved to the cathedral-side site in 1551, became independent of the city in the nineteenth century, admitted girls to the Sixth Form in 1994 and became fully co-educational in 2010. Few parts of its present identity are separate from that long institutional story.

The 3-18 route runs from Lower School through the Senior School and Sixth Form, with the Cathedral Close providing a daily setting for assemblies, concerts and events. Academic work sits alongside sport, music, drama, community service and clubs. History offers a clear example of the progression, moving from medieval and early modern topics to international relations and twentieth-century study, with A-Level options and extended coursework.

Sixth Form students add independent projects and specialist societies to their studies, with dedicated spaces including the Bishops Parlour Study Area and Upper King Street Cafe. That post-16 structure gives older students more independence while keeping them within the wider life of the school and its community-service tradition.

Admissions are direct, with open events and individual working-day tours, alongside information about fees, assistance, scholarships and international entry. Norwich School is a co-educational Christian day school for ages 3 to 18, with no boarding provision, so the Cathedral Close journey continues through its own Sixth Form.
