North Road Academy

The Quran and Sunnah form the centre of North Road Academy's educational life, alongside learning rooted in the UK National Curriculum. That combination gives the academy its particular rhythm: religious understanding is developed with the same practical attention as literacy, numeracy and wider personal development. The provision runs from age 3 to 16 as a mixed day-school route.

Islamic Studies, Arabic and Quran teaching form a substantial part of the curriculum, including recitation with Tajweed and Tafseer. Secular and religious subjects are held together rather than treated as separate worlds, while educational visits reinforce knowledge and practical thinking. Social skills and personal development extend the programme beyond examination subjects.

Applications are made directly. Families register and arrange an entry examination so staff can understand a new pupil's working level, then new applicants may spend a day in school after assessment. September starters have a transition day with their new teachers before the academic year begins, making the move into the academy a gradual and familiar process.

North Road Academy therefore combines an Islamic framework with a broad, age-spanning curriculum and a deliberate entry process. The school has no boarding provision, and its senior route ends at 16. The assessment, visit and transition arrangements leave room for staff to understand a pupil before the first full term.
