Newcastle School for Boys is entering a significant new phase after its 2005 foundation. Girls are due to join the Junior School and Sixth Form in September 2026, followed by the Senior School in September 2027, as the developing name The Newcastle School comes into use. The Gosforth setting is therefore a boys' school moving into co-education.
Small teaching groups and subject specialists shape the Senior School. From Year 7, pupils study English, mathematics and science with French, Spanish, geography, history, art and design, computer science, design technology, music and religious studies. GCSE years add Business Studies and curricular PE, while the Sixth Form offers more than 20 A-level subjects and technical options.
Tutor time, regular assessment and individual target-setting sit alongside day visits, sports tours and cultural trips, including examples in South Africa and India. Sport, performing arts, STEM clubs, academic societies and peer support extend the close-knit model. The day-school route runs from the early years through sixth form and has no boarding.
