Mount Kelly began in October 1877 as Kelly College, opening with twelve boys on land given from the Duke of Bedford's Tavistock estate. It merged with Newton College in 1940, became co-educational in the 1970s and took its present name after joining with Mount House in 2014. That layered history sits inside a 4-to-18 community.
Prep, College and sixth-form pupils share an education that joins academic work with sport, music, arts, clubs and societies. Swimming and girls' performance football are specialist strengths, while compassion, tolerance, kindness, integrity, generosity and service direct the wider programme.
Day places and boarding sit alongside one another. Saturdays centre on fixtures and activities; Sundays can include swimming, Dartmoor walks and mountain biking. Applicants visit or take a taster day, provide prior-school information and passports, and from Year 7 complete entrance assessments followed by a reference from their current setting.
