Overview

Mount House occupies a Grade II-listed red-brick mansion surrounded by woodland and grounds in Hadley Wood. The building was an Architectural Association School during the Second World War and later St Martha's Senior School; boys joined in 2017 and the senior school became fully co-educational in 2022.

The curriculum keeps breadth through Years 7 to 9, combining two languages, humanities, creative and performing arts, sport, music, PSHE and enrichment in critical thinking and global issues. GCSE pupils study English, mathematics and science with options including computer science, business, music, drama, food and nutrition and photography. Sixth Form continues the route to 18.

Small classes, tutor groups and four houses give the 350-pupil senior setting a close pastoral scale. Form tutors meet students individually each half term, with Heads of Year and peer mentors adding support. It is a day school with no boarding; Year 7 entry uses English, mathematics and non-verbal reasoning, Year 9 assessment is adaptive, and Sixth Form entry includes interview, report and reference.
