Menorah Grammar School

Menorah Grammar School's Orthodox Jewish day-school model combines boys' education from 11 to 21 with a Sixth Form and no boarding. January 2026 pupil counts differ slightly, at 231 and 233, against a capacity of 290. This keeps the small discrepancy visible and avoids presenting one figure as timeless.

The timetable divides the day between Kodesh in the morning and secular study in the afternoon. GCSE courses begin in Year 9 and A-level courses in Year 11. Alongside the main curriculum, a separately taught, locally funded DNC provision supports pupils with education, health and care plans; its personalised curriculum and targeted teaching were effective.

In March 2025, Menorah Grammar School was judged Requires Improvement and not all independent-school standards were met. Behaviour and relationships were positive, but weaknesses remained in curriculum delivery, support for pupils with SEND in mainstream lessons and personal-development content. In January 2026, the specified welfare, premises, information and recruitment standards were met, but the narrower remit did not revisit every area.

The senior route has its own distinctive pattern: pupils enter Sixth Form from Year 11, leave at the end of Year 12 and, in most cases, move on to yeshiva. Menorah therefore combines a Kodesh-and-secular timetable with a short post-16 transition, while the formal boys' 11-to-21 registration remains broader than the usual Sixth Form phase.
