Re-entry into education is the organising purpose at LS-TEN, where social, emotional and mental health needs can make a conventional setting difficult. The Leeds provision offers full-time personalised placements for ages 11-17, including pupils with an EHCP and a small number of alternative-provision places. It is mixed and non-boarding, with 60 pupils.
Learning is organised through Foundation, Foundation+ and Core strands, so literacy, numeracy, critical thinking and academic or vocational progression can be adjusted to a pupil's starting point. Key Stage 3 and 4 plans include English, mathematics, science, PSHCE, humanities, creative work, guided reading, computing and projects; sport is included at Key Stage 4. Adaptive teaching and SEND support are built into the approach.
Calming spaces and dedicated indoor and outdoor areas for movement and sensory support give the day a practical rhythm. Pupils are supported to regulate, refocus and return to learning by teachers, HLTAs, tutors, sports coaches, youth workers and engagement staff. The wider team includes an Educational Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, BACP-qualified counsellor, SENDCo and safeguarding leaders.
Placement enquiries go through the Leeds setting. The full-time offer is for pupils with an EHCP, alongside the limited alternative-provision route for young people in mainstream settings who need additional support. In May 2025, the additional-assessment outcome was Requires Improvement; there are no boarders.
