Lingfield College

Lingfield College grew from a wartime beginning: in 1940, three Sisters of Notre Dame arrived with fourteen girls evacuated from Faversham. The school later moved into educational trust management, ended boarding and became co-educational. Its present shape is an all-through day school on Prep and Senior sites, carrying that history into a community that now runs from the early years to Sixth Form.

The Senior School builds a common foundation in Years 7 and 8 before pupils move towards GCSE and IGCSE choices. English, mathematics, science, languages, humanities, computing, art, drama, music and philosophy all have a place in the earlier curriculum, with greater specialisation from Year 9. Sixth Form students can take A levels, BTECs and the Extended Project Qualification.

Lingfield's character is also visible beyond the timetable. Music has its own facilities, while sport, drama, clubs, trips and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award give pupils a broad set of ways to take part. The day-school model means that co-curricular life is built around the school week, with no current boarding provision separating residential and day communities.

The main direct-entry points are 11+ and 16+, with other year groups considered where places are available. Year 10 entry is tied to the start of the academic year because of the GCSE courses. Families therefore need to identify the right stage before applying, whether they are looking for continuity through the all-through route or a senior or Sixth Form place at a defined transition.
