Overview
Lincoln Minster School grew from predecessor institutions reaching back to the twelfth century, including Lincoln Cathedral School. Mergers created the present all-through route, but historic buildings and cathedral connections remain active through choir selections and an end-of-term Cathedral Service. The past is tangible rather than merely commemorative.
Years 7 to 9 keep options broad before specialisation, combining English, mathematics and science with art, computer science, languages, geography, history, music, philosophy, religion and ethics, and PE. Small classes and mathematics grouping support the academic programme. Clubs, music, sport and travel take pupils beyond the lesson timetable.
Flexi and weekly weekday boarding are available from Year 5 to Sixth Form, with Monday-to-Thursday stays, a resident tutor and supervised prep. Reception, Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12 are the main entry stages, with in-year applications possible where places exist. A reference, Year 7 cognitive assessment and taster day form part of the process; scholarships are available at Years 7, 9 and 12.
