Overview

A parent-led charitable trust has run Leicester High School for Girls since 1974, when the Parents' Association took responsibility for the institution. The senior department adopted its present name in 1985. Merton House and Portland House give that girls' education from the early years to Sixth Form a particular local continuity.

The junior department has specialist teaching in music, drama, computing, sport, outdoor learning and creative arts. Its dedicated building includes classrooms, a library, computer suite, art studio, hall and outdoor space. Leadership, STEM activity, performances, fixtures, enrichment and educational visits widen the rhythm of the week across the age range.

Entry to Sixth Form includes a visit and taster day, predicted grades and a reference, with GCSE conditions attached to Year 12 places. The day provision runs from age three to 18 and does not include boarding. Those phase-specific arrangements make the move into Sixth Form a distinct moment within a longer all-girls journey.
