Lawrence Sheriff School is an 11-18 selective boys' grammar school in Rugby, with about 1,201 pupils and a sixth form that admits girls. The values page opens with the idea of being a happy school, then connects high expectation, mutual respect and success to the day-to-day culture. The school is also home to the Coventry and Warwickshire Teaching School Hub, giving it a wider professional role beyond its own pupils.
Academically, LSS presents a grammar-school curriculum supported by a wider curriculum, vertical tutoring, house system, student council, eco-committee, school newspaper, chess, sport and a strong sixth-form pathway. The sixth form offers a wide range of AS and A level courses, plus BTEC Level 3 options in engineering and art, and the school says around 40% of sixth formers join from other local schools.
The sixth-form facilities are specific and useful: a purpose-built centre with common room, quiet study room and cafeteria, classrooms and computer rooms above, plus access to the Learning Resources Centre, library and drop-in computer room. Sixth formers are expected to act as role models in the wider school, particularly through the vertical tutoring system.
