Overview

The King's School in Worcester is a co-educational independent day foundation for children from the early years through the Sixth Form. Its senior school stands at 5 College Green beside Worcester Cathedral. Girls entered the Sixth Form in 1971, the school became fully co-educational in 1991, and boarding ended in 1999. The Foundation includes King's St Alban's and King's Hawford.

King's publishes a broad curriculum before specialisation. Years 7 to 9 combine English, mathematics, sciences, languages, humanities, computing and creative subjects. At GCSE, pupils take ten subjects including English, mathematics, sciences and a language, then choose further subjects. Sixth Form students normally take three A levels and a KSW Elective. Sport, rowing, music, drama, art, debating, outdoor adventure, service and the Combined Cadet Force give breadth beyond lessons.

Admissions are school-run, with entry at 11+, 12+, 13+, 14+ and Sixth Form. Applicants at 11+ to 14+ complete age-appropriate entrance assessments. Sixth Form applicants do not sit an entrance test; offers are conditional on minimum GCSE grades, and candidates submit a personal statement while the school takes references from their current school. Visits and private tours are part of the route.
