Kent College International Study Centre

Kent College International Study Centre is a language-focused bridge into the British curriculum for overseas pupils preparing to join mainstream study. The co-educational 11-to-18 provision includes boarding and is distinct from the wider Kent College Canterbury route. Its timetable is built around transition through English, rather than simply adding EAL support to a standard programme.

Teaching uses small groups, cross-curricular vocabulary work and timetables adapted to each pupil. Younger pupils can combine intensive English with mathematics, art and science; older pupils can prepare for IGCSE English as a Second Language, IELTS or Cambridge examinations. Tutor groups, sport, co-curricular activity, Chapel, assemblies and boarding-house life connect language development to the wider community.

Registration requires recent academic information, assessments in English, mathematics and non-verbal reasoning, an online English assessment and, where needed, an interview. Placement depends on level and year. International boarders also need guardian and visa arrangements. The bespoke timetable prepares pupils for later GCSE, IGCSE, A-level or IB study rather than treating the Study Centre as a separate end point.
