Iqra Academy

Iqra Academy brings girls' academic study, Islamic character and service into the same five-year secondary journey. Founded in 2009 by the Peterborough Muslim Education Trust, English, mathematics and science carry equal weight with Arabic, Urdu, Islamic studies, humanities, computing, technology, art, physical education and citizenship. The result is a timetable with a clear academic core and a defined religious rhythm.

Quranic Studies, Tajweed, Hadith Studies and Fiqh sit alongside tutorial time, reading, prayer, enrichment and Madrasah. Extra English and mathematics lessons add weight to the core subjects, while sport, societies, charity work and community activity take pupils beyond the classroom. GCSE and vocational qualifications mark the main outcomes of this present Years 7 to 11 phase.

Girls can apply directly for Years 7 to 11, including in-year transfers. The process includes an application form, oversubscription criteria, fees and a 2026 Year 7 transfer test. The establishment data includes post-16 provision, whereas the admissions material sets out the Years 7 to 11 route; the distinction is noted here rather than assumed away. It is a compact secondary programme with a much more specific identity than its subject list alone conveys.
