Hollygirt School

Hollygirt began in 1877, founded by Miss Eliza Stevenson, and has kept a small-school character in Nottingham. It is a non-selective co-educational day school with one current age description reaching 3 to 18, while the statutory age range is 3 to 16; those two figures do not currently align. There is no boarding or official sixth form.

Years 7 to 9 combine English, mathematics, practical science, French, Spanish, history, geography, religious studies, art, music, design technology, food and nutrition and computing. Biology, physics and chemistry separate in Years 8 and 9. At GCSE, English and mathematics are compulsory, followed by six choices across sciences, humanities, languages, creative subjects and computing.

Small classes allow the non-selective model to stretch pupils and support them where needed. Practical work, trips, charity, sport, concerts and shows sit alongside individual music and singing lessons, joining academic and pastoral life without making the school feel anonymous.

The entry route moves from prospectus, tour or open morning to registration, taster days and a reference. Year 7 Entrance Day includes lessons, activities and an interview; a separate scholarship morning uses language and non-verbal reasoning. Other year groups may be considered where the school can meet a child's needs.
