Headington Rye Oxford

Headington Rye Oxford brings two Oxford schools together: Headington School and Rye St Antony became one in 2024. The result is a linked structure with a co-educational Nursery and Prep School to age 11 and a girls' Senior School and Sixth Form from 11 to 18, with day and boarding options. The two sites still have different roles, so the phase a pupil is joining matters.

The senior curriculum is broad before it becomes more specialised. GCSE and A level choices are designed to leave room for independent thinking, critical enquiry and creativity, while older pupils can build a programme around their strengths and ambitions. Assessment, interview, school references and reports form part of the selective admissions process.

The Hive supports art, design, photography and film, and the music school brings together around 20 ensembles and 22 instruments. Hockey, netball, fencing, rowing and climbing sit alongside the CCF, Duke of Edinburgh's Award and residential trips. These activities give pupils routes into performance, leadership and adventure beyond formal examinations.

Boarding options include full, occasional, half-weekly and weekly arrangements for Senior School girls. Prep and senior entry routes are separate, with the relevant year group and campus shaping the assessment and application process. The 2024 merger therefore creates a wider school, but not a single undifferentiated route through it.
