Harrogate Ladies' College is in the middle of a significant change: the school plans to become Duchy College from September 2026 and to introduce co-education gradually in the senior years. That future sits alongside a history reaching back to 1893, a nursery and co-educational prep school, and a girls' senior provision with boarding at its centre.
The academic approach is built around depth of understanding, small classes and teaching that responds to how girls learn. GCSE and A level study is supported by regular assessment and subject choice, while museums, galleries, visiting speakers and practical experiences connect lessons with the wider world.
