Overview

Hampton School traces its foundation to 1557, when Robert Hammond's bequest supported a free school for local boys. It moved to Hanworth Road in 1939 and returned to independent status in 1975. The senior school is boys-only and day, with a sixth form; personal best is valued alongside academic ambition.

The curriculum gives pupils increasing choice. Lower years study languages, sciences, humanities, computing, design, art, drama, music and sport before GCSE or IGCSE options. The route normally leads to ten Fifth Year examinations; the Sixth Form begins with four subjects and takes three through to full A Level, alongside enrichment, sport, PSHE and wellbeing work.

Hampton's 28-acre site includes a 3G sportsground, Sports Hall, library, Sixth Form Study and Careers Centre and The Hammond Theatre. More than 130 clubs and societies cover sport, music, drama, writing, technology, academic interests and service.

Entry is assessment-led at 10+, 11+, 13+ and 16+, using papers, references and interviews. Sixth-form candidates sit aptitude and subject tests, submit a personal statement and provide a school report. Hampton is a day school with an easy-travel requirement for Sixth Form. Bursaries and Free Places are available at 11+, 13+ and Sixth Form.
