Since 1921, Halliford School has combined a boys' senior school with a co-educational Sixth Form. The community moved to its present site in 1929, and its stated ethos places family values, respect and pastoral care alongside the expectation that pupils are known as individuals. Girls join boys in the sixth form, making the post-16 phase a clear change of model.
Years 7 to 9 provide a broad foundation before GCSE choices across sciences, languages, humanities, arts, design and technology and computing. The Sixth Form offers A Levels in sciences, humanities, languages, creative subjects, business and performing arts. An Extended Project Qualification gives independent research a defined place beside the main subjects.
The weekly rhythm extends beyond lessons: every pupil is expected to take part in at least two co-curricular or sporting activities. The Woodward Building and Learning Resource Centre, John Crook Theatre, Forum, design workshops and recital hall support study, sport, music, drama and clubs, giving the campus a practical and performing-arts character.
Entry at 11+ and 13+ combines registration, a senior interview and a classroom-based entrance examination. Sixth-form applicants submit a report, personal statement and interview evidence, normally with at least five GCSEs at grade 5 or above. Scholarships cover academic, artistic, dramatic, musical and sporting achievement, with means-tested bursaries also available.
