Overview

Founded in 1957 as a family-owned community, Hall Grove School has grown around 40 acres of parkland and a flexible boarding offer. The day-school route runs from the Early Years Foundation Stage to age 16, with weekly, flexi, occasional and trial boarding from Year 3. A senior school opened in September 2025, giving the established prep provision a newer later-years phase.

The curriculum moves from the Early Years Foundation Stage through the National Curriculum, Common Entrance and scholarship preparation. English, mathematics, science, French, history, geography, religious studies, design technology, art, computing, PSHE, music and games sit alongside outdoor learning. Boarding in the manor house adds evening activities and access to music, art, dance and sport, but the community remains predominantly day-based.

Admissions begin with a visit, registration and age-appropriate assessment. Year 3 applicants attend group assessment days; senior applicants complete reasoning assessments, a written task, an interview and a school reference. Boarding enquiries are handled separately with the Headmaster or Head of Boarding. The distinctive combination is a long-running family-owned setting, a newly extended senior phase and several levels of boarding flexibility.

Places and demand
Published Year 7 place numbers and applicant-per-place data are not included in GIAS for this private-school seed profile.
Catchment
Private-school eligibility is not controlled by the local-authority grammar catchment model; check boarding, day-pupil, transport and any sibling or faith rules on the school site.
Results
Independent-school performance data is patchier in official releases, so GCSE and A-level comparisons should be checked against the school's published results.
