Gresham's School

Gresham's was founded by Sir John Gresham in 1555, with its history tied to the move from Holt's Manor House to the present estate. The co-educational day-and-boarding setting now stretches from the early years through Senior School and Sixth Form across 300 acres, from ancient woodland towards the North Norfolk coast. Current campus development continues within that long history.

The Senior School curriculum stays deliberately flexible. Year 9 spans sciences, humanities, creative subjects and up to two languages. Years 10 and 11 offer up to ten IGCSE and GCSE subjects, while Sixth Form students can choose the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, A levels or BTEC diplomas. A one-year GCSE route is available for pupils joining in Year 11 and is integrated with mainstream study and boarding-house life.

GAPs activity, sport, drama, music, the Combined Cadet Force, Duke of Edinburgh and community projects are built into the weekly rhythm. The woodland activity centre adds a climbing wall, ropes courses and zip wire, while STEAM work, field trips and activity on the school's farm extend learning beyond classrooms. Boarding gives the day a residential dimension while remaining open to day pupils.

Entry is handled directly and varies by stage. Guidance covers the main entry points, international applicants, Sixth Form applications and interviews, and the one-year GCSE course. The result is a school where a long historical identity sits alongside genuine choice between GCSE, A level, BTEC and IB routes.
