Greenfields School

Greenfields combines a small co-educational day and boarding community with a setting of forestry, fields and lakes on the edge of Ashdown Forest. Children can stay from the early years through Sixth Form, with boarding available from Year 7 on weekly or full-time arrangements. More than 25 acres of land, on-site sports areas and a boarding lounge make the environment part of everyday life rather than a backdrop.

The curriculum brings the Cambridge Curriculum Framework together with the National Curriculum. Study skills are taught through the licensed Study Technology approach, while small classes and individual programmes allow pupils to work at an appropriate pace. Entry assessments in mathematics, English and the three sciences can lead to catch-up work where gaps appear or extra challenge where a pupil is working beyond year level.

The outdoor and residential programme is substantial. Football, basketball, tennis, netball, volleyball, rounders, cross-country, hockey and athletics sit alongside horse-riding and sailing. Boarders also have weekend activities and excursions, with locally prepared meals and the grounds supporting the day-to-day rhythm.

Enquiries are accepted throughout the year. The route can include contact with the school, a trial day, registration documents and review by the relevant head of school and headteacher, followed by acceptance and start-date arrangements. A term-time tour or video call can be booked. All relevant standards were met in December 2024.
