Greek Secondary School of London

Greek language and culture shape every part of Greek Secondary School of London; they form its organising centre. Founded by the Greek Embassy in 1983 for Greek children in London, the mixed day school takes pupils from 12 to 18 and combines the Greek curriculum with the requirements of an English independent school.

Teaching is mainly carried out by Greek-speaking teachers in England who understand the Greek curriculum, with some teachers and the headteacher appointed on secondment from Greece by the Greek Ministry of Education. That connection gives the school a clear linguistic and cultural purpose, while the headteacher remains responsible for meeting both Greek legislation and the English framework.

The sixth form forms part of the same secondary setting. Mathematics, art and PSHE have featured in recent inspection work, and personal development includes a revised PSHE programme introduced across all year groups from September 2024, with additional time for pupils in Years 9 and 10. The arrangement keeps Greek educational provision and English statutory expectations in the same school.

The Greek Embassy remains the proprietor, and the school has no boarding provision. In the September 2025 inspection, quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and sixth-form work all received Good judgements, and the independent-school standards were met.
