Overview

Gosfield began at Cut Hedge Park in 1929 as a boys' boarding school, became a charitable trust in 1967 and co-educational in 1986. A prep school followed in 1989 and the Sixth Form in 1994, creating the present 2-18 community around a 110-acre estate and former mansion. There is no boarding provision now.

Senior study combines GCSE subjects with languages, humanities, creative subjects, computing, design technology, food technology, PE and PSHEE. Teachers, tutors and senior academic staff monitor progress closely, using assessment to understand individual needs. Small classes and specialist teaching continue through Sixth Form, giving the academic route a deliberately close scale.

Forest School, a cricket pavilion and academy, design-technology facilities and a performing-arts centre support the wider programme. Sport, music, drama and clubs add practical and creative choices to the school day. The campus and its mixed-age community support the stated aim of knowing each child and developing their potential.

Senior applications are made online. Sixth-form entry includes an open evening or taster day, an application and a conditional offer. At Years 7, 8 and 9, adaptive MidYIS assessments cover vocabulary, mathematics, non-verbal reasoning and skills. The current 2-18 structure therefore has different entry patterns for younger senior pupils and Sixth Form applicants.
