Fyling Hall School

Fyling Hall was founded in 1923 by Mab Bradley, and its identity still centres on a family-like community. Junior, senior and Sixth Form pupils share a co-educational day-and-boarding setting at Robin Hood's Bay, with the North York Moors and Yorkshire coast close to daily life. Woodland, coastline and an equine centre give the campus an unusually practical outdoor dimension.

Years 7 to 9 follow a broad programme before pupils move towards around 15 GCSE subjects and practical RSL qualifications in performing arts and music. Sixth Form options include A levels, AS levels and vocational courses. Music, drama, sport, Duke of Edinburgh and community work add breadth, while boarders can choose termly, weekly, short-term or occasional arrangements in separate houses with resident staff.

Admissions are non-selective and personalised. The process considers previous academic information and an interview rather than using an entrance exam, with the expectation that a pupil can access the curriculum and make progress. As at September 2025, all relevant standards were met across education, wellbeing, boarding and safeguarding, with strong SEND provision. The remaining improvement point was more detailed written feedback on how work could improve.
