Future First reopened in September 2025 with a small-setting model for young people aged 13 to 18 whose education has been disrupted. Its provision includes pupils affected by exclusion, behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, anxiety, school phobia or the absence of a school place. Referrals can include a form, risk assessment and consultation with the local authority.
The curriculum is tailored to individual needs and brings therapeutic, vocational and academic learning together. English, mathematics, science, PSHE and physical education sit alongside construction, horticulture, animal care, business studies and health and social care. GCSE, Functional Skills, Entry Level and vocational routes give pupils different ways to build progress, while relationships, resilience and re-engagement remain central to the small setting.
In February 2026, the atmosphere was calm and purposeful, relationships were positive and pupils engaged with vocational options. Safeguarding, attendance and behaviour met the expected standard. Curriculum, inclusion, leadership and personal development still needed attention, and no pupils were then enrolled in post-16 provision. Progression is intended to lead to further education, work or reintegration into mainstream education.
GIAS confirms the school type and age range; fees, scholarships, bursaries and entrance assessments should be checked on the school's own website.
