Overview

Forest School reaches back to 1834 but now operates as a co-educational day school from 4 to 18, bringing Prep, senior and Sixth Form stages together in Snaresbrook. There is no boarding. Its long history is paired with a single through-school environment rather than separate prep and senior institutions.

The curriculum spans linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, human, social, physical, aesthetic and creative education before pupils specialise. Music, drama, sport, clubs, expeditions, learning support and the Combined Cadet Force extend that work. In 2025, 78% of GCSE grades were 9-7 and 81% of A-level grades were A*-B.

Entry is direct and selective. The September 2026 11+ route used digital and written maths and English, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, and problem-solving tests, followed by written English, interview, a collaborative task and a current-school reference. The 2025 route had about 120 places for 500 applicants; other ages and Sixth Form have separate arrangements.
