Overview
Farlington began as Farlington House School in Haywards Heath in 1896 and has occupied Strood Park since 1955. Lower and Middle School feed into Senior School and Sixth Form, with day and boarding places for boys and girls. That long through-route is central to its identity, while the academic experience changes markedly as pupils move through it.
Years 9 to 11 pair GCSE choices with study skills and individual careers planning. Sixth Form adds greater autonomy, leadership and service, including A levels in Design and Technology, Business, and Drama and Theatre. Sport, performing arts and fine art remain active parts of the week alongside subject study.
Boarding starts in Year 7 at the Mansion House. Boys' and girls' bedrooms are separate, with shared study, music and communal spaces; full, weekly, flexible and occasional stays are available. Entry normally moves from enquiry, visit, registration and a Head's report to a taster day or boarding night. Senior applicants usually take CAT4, while sixth-form applicants bring predicted GCSE grades to a Pathway Planning Meeting.
