Exeter School's modern form was set by two changes: full co-education in 1997 and the end of boarding in 1999. Junior, senior and sixth-form pupils now use the Exeter campus, with a separate Pre-Prep in Exminster. The result is a day-school route from early years to 18 rather than a boarding tradition adapted for day pupils.
At senior level, English, mathematics, a modern foreign language and separate sciences form the core before GCSE choice expands into Latin, drama, music, design technology and computer science. A levels sit alongside BTEC routes, while the Futures Programme addresses careers and higher-education preparation.
Debating, coding, drama, music, art, science, Model United Nations, sport, expeditions, the Combined Cadet Force and Friday afternoon activities give the calendar real range. Senior entry is selective, using a visit, registration and assessment including an online cognitive abilities test. Year 9 and 10 applicants meet a senior leader; sixth-form offers follow interview and GCSE results.
