Kodesh, Jewish faith learning, and chol, secular study, divide the day at Etz Chaim Boys School. Founded in 1996, the Orthodox Jewish provision serves boys aged 11 to 17. Its secular timetable is intended to lead towards GCSE or equivalent study in as many as 11 subjects by the end of Year 10.
Some year groups now link kodesh study to personal, social, health and economic education. The provision is non-selective, has no boarding and is registered for sixth-form education, although no pupils were using that stage in January 2026. Pupils generally leave at the end of Year 10 for a Yeshiva, so the registered sixth-form status needs reading alongside that usual transition.
A material caveat remains. January 2026 monitoring confirmed safeguarding, health and safety and premises standards as met, while curriculum, relationships and sex education, and leadership standards remained unmet; the current judgement is Requires Improvement.
