Overview

Founded in 1855 as the Royal Medical Benevolent College, Epsom College began by supporting orphans and widows of medical professionals. Girls joined the Sixth Form in 1976 and full co-education followed later. The college now serves pupils aged 11 to 19 on a 72-acre campus, with both day and boarding places.

Its academic model starts with breadth and moves towards depth. The 2025 curriculum includes provision beyond the National Curriculum, increasing subject mastery in the Sixth Form, weekly wellbeing and Personal and Social Development, as well as adapted teaching, tutorials and EAL support. Houses organise pastoral life for day pupils and boarders.

The campus supports more than 22 sports, CCF, adventure activity, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and clubs. The 2025-26 programme lists more than 150 Sixth Form activities, giving older pupils room to specialise and take leadership roles. Sport, activity and house life therefore sit alongside the academic route rather than after it.

Main entry points are 11+ into Year 7, 13+ into Year 9 and 16+ into the Lower Sixth. Registration, references, interviews and assessment form part of the process, with GCSE and subject requirements for Sixth Form. International boarders also need a UK guardian and UKVI arrangements.
