Elmfield's defining choice is the international Steiner Waldorf Curriculum, followed from the early years into the Upper School. The co-educational setting in Stourbridge is organised around the developing child rather than a conventional year-group model, with a child-centred approach intended to help pupils find their own paths.

Teaching uses main lessons, practical and artistic work and a through-school focus on social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. In the Upper School, pupils continue with Waldorf study and a body-based learning programme before completing a three-year GCSE sequence. They normally take four GCSEs in Class 10 and the remainder in Class 11.

Music, languages, arts, crafts, sport, drama and class projects are part of everyday learning. The Upper School includes exchanges with a sister school in Germany, a Class 10 community project and a Class 11 overseas trip. Main lesson work and classroom experience are treated as central parts of the education, rather than as decoration around examinations.

Entry begins with an open event or private tour, arranged through the school office. This direct process gives families a chance to understand the progression from early years and Lower School into the Upper School's Waldorf and GCSE work. Elmfield's educational identity is therefore clearest in the continuity of its approach, not in a conventional boarding or selection model.
