Overview

Established in 1926 by Mrs Elliot-Pyle, Dunottar School has made its Warrior Learner approach a visible part of daily life. The co-educational day school serves ages 11 to 18 in Reigate, using curiosity, resilience and collaboration to name the habits pupils practise through challenge.

Years 7 to 9 include separate sciences, languages, humanities and creative subjects before GCSE choices open. Sixth Form teaching uses small groups, the Extended Project Qualification and a Level 3 Sports Leaders award, keeping academic study alongside practical leadership and enrichment.

The co-curricular range is unusually varied: chamber ensemble, drama, musical theatre, beekeeping, coding, drones, dissection, food, robotics and sport all appear in the programme. The campus includes a 500-seat theatre, sports hall and science laboratories, while Sixth Form pupils have a dedicated study and social centre.

Year 7 applicants attend a taster morning, complete Warrior Learner activities, meet for interview and take English, mathematics, verbal, non-verbal and numerical assessments; a reference is also requested. Sixth Form applicants meet subject staff and normally need six GCSE grades at 6 or above, with higher expectations for mathematics or science.
