Opened in 1995, Derby Grammar School became fully co-educational in September 2023. It now brings pupils from Reception to Sixth Form together at Rykneld Road in Littleover, with a day-school model, no boarding and provision through age 18.
Senior study is divided between Lower School and Upper School. English, mathematics and science form the core, while GCSE choices extend through modern languages, humanities, computing, art, drama, music, design and technology, physical education and religious studies. This lets pupils combine academic subjects with creative, practical and physical interests.
Sport runs from Reception to Year 13 through participation, performance, fixtures and inter-house competition. Excellence, Encouragement and Enrichment are the school's three stated values, while pastoral care sits within teaching and the all-through routine as pupils move into senior study.
The admissions route begins with an enquiry and visit, then registration, CAT4, a taster day, interview and a report or reference. Applications are accepted throughout the year, with entry outside September considered case by case. The relevant standards were met at the inspection beginning 14 October 2025.
