Darvell School

Darvell School sits within the Darvell Bruderhof community in Robertsbridge, where education is woven into a wider life of work, worship, family life and service. Church Communities UK owns and operates the school, whose Christian ethos aims to give children a happy and constructive childhood. The community setting is the defining feature, not a backdrop to an otherwise conventional school day.

Morning teaching centres on language arts, history, mathematics and science in small classes with high expectations. Afternoons move into craftsmanship, singing, arts, sportsmanship, bushcraft, gardening and service. Classroom technology is limited to lessons where it has clear educational value or supports ongoing education, leaving practical work and shared activity prominent in the week.

Pupils and staff take part in the religious life of the Bruderhof, including Advent, Christmas and Easter. Work experience with local businesses and care for neighbours connect learning to the surrounding community. Most pupils live on site, but the school has no boarding provision; the community's residential life and the school's formal status are separate considerations.

A visit begins the admissions process. Families meet teachers, see the school in context and can arrange for a child to shadow students during the day.
