Darul Uloom Leicester

Darul Uloom Leicester is both a boys' secondary school and a higher Islamic education institute. Its 11-to-23 day-and-boarding model brings GCSE and Sixth Form study together with Hifz Qur'an memorisation and the seven-year Alimiyyah programme. The defining feature is continuity between examination courses and advanced Islamic learning, rather than a choice between separate institutions.

From Year 7, pupils can work towards GCSEs in eight subjects. The Sixth Form lists six A levels as an expanding provision, while Tahfeez and Alimiyyah create further routes for students who want sustained religious study. Later destinations can include college, apprenticeships and higher education, with academic and Islamic knowledge developing side by side.

Boarding and daytime facilities support a community that includes secondary pupils, sixth-form students and those on specialist courses. A meeting or visit helps families understand how the timetable, residential life and different stages fit together. The right question is not only which year group a child enters, but which combination of school and Islamic study is intended.

Applications require a form, birth certificate and the latest school and madrasah reports. Management review may lead to an interview with parents and an entry examination in core subjects. An accepted applicant can be placed on a waiting list when there is no immediate vacancy, so timing and the desired route should be settled early.
