Darul Uloom Islamic High School

Established in 1985, Darul Uloom Islamic High School combines traditional Islamic education with the National Curriculum for boys aged 11 to 16. The Birmingham day school has no boarding provision or Sixth Form, so its model is concentrated on the secondary years and on a school day in which religious and academic study run together.

English, mathematics, science, history, geography, ICT, physical education and religious education form the named subject base, alongside Islamic studies. Pupils work towards GCSEs while receiving teaching in Islamic knowledge and values. The combination is not an optional enrichment track; it shapes the timetable and the way the school approaches learning.

Conduct and community life are treated as part of education. Behaviour, manners, respect, tolerance, confidence, openness and community spirit sit beside classroom work, with co-curricular activity adding to the daily experience. Prospective pupils can arrange a tour, which is useful for understanding the balance between the two strands before applying.

Admission is handled directly by the school. The current route asks for pupil and previous-school details, supporting documents and an entrance assessment, followed by an interview about previous reports and motivation. With no Sixth Form or boarding, the relevant decision is the fit of this focused 11-to-16 route and the practical journey to Small Heath.
