A Cranleigh education joins a long Surrey history with a deliberately active senior-school routine. The school opened in 1865 after local fundraising and the gift of an eight-acre site, and it now brings Pre-Prep, Prep and Senior education together. The Senior School is co-educational for pupils aged 13 to 18, with day and boarding routes through the same community.
Academic life is organised around subject depth and the Cranleigh Diploma. From Year 7 to Sixth Form, the STRIDE framework brings stewardship, technology, readiness, innovation, diversity and economic literacy into the wider programme. GCSE pupils combine core subjects with choices across sciences, languages, humanities, arts and creative disciplines, and Sixth Form students can add the Extended Project Qualification to A levels.
House membership shapes the daily and weekend experience. Senior pupils belong to one of eight Houses and can be day pupils, use Day Plus, board weekly or board full time. Full boarders join a programme of sport, trips, social events and House activities, so boarding is a pattern of participation rather than simply an overnight arrangement.
