Covenant Christian School

Six Christian families began Covenant Christian School in 1981, teaching three children in a farmhouse in Reddish. The community moved to Heaton Moor in 1985 and remains a small, parent-led school in Stockport. Its Christian character is expressed through relationships, curriculum, aspirations and the practical partnership between families and teachers.

Children from 5 to 16 learn in classes capped at ten, giving staff room to attend to academic progress alongside emotional, spiritual and mental wellbeing. The National Curriculum is joined by practical sessions, trips, local visits and community visitors. Secondary pupils study English, mathematics, science, religious education, history, geography, French, British Sign Language, art, PE, music, technology or IT, wellbeing and PSHE.

GCSE study begins in the third term of Year 9. English, mathematics, religious education, Combined Science, wellbeing and PE form the core, with options including history, geography, food or electronics, further mathematics, French, music and art. The structure gives pupils a defined examination route while keeping the school's wider Christian and community life visible.

Joining starts with contact and an application enquiry rather than a large annual intake. Families normally contribute one day each week per child, or provide the equivalent monetary value, with the practical arrangements discussed during the application process. That shared contribution is part of the school's identity and an important feature of the day-to-day community.
