Overview

Collegiate School grew from a foundation in 1710 and a move to Stapleton in 1861, on land associated with Colston's Hospital. A 1991 merger shaped the later institution, which became Collegiate School, Bristol in September 2022. Pre-School, Prep, Senior School and Sixth Form now form a co-educational 3-to-18 community on the same campus.

The Senior School starts in Year 7 and carries pupils through GCSE and A level. Year 7 is deliberately exploratory before GCSE choices, with academic work joined by sport, music, service, clubs and societies. Sixth Form study remains part of the same community, so the transition to advanced subjects does not require a change of school.

More than 30 acres at Stapleton give the school a substantial setting for learning and activity. Pastoral care, learning support, leadership and service sit beside the co-curricular programme, while an organised induction helps new pupils settle in. The school welcomes arrivals from maintained and independent schools across Bristol and beyond.

Senior entry is usually at Year 7, Year 9 or Year 12, with other year groups considered when places are available. The direct route normally includes a visit or Taster Day and academic testing, followed by contact with admissions. The relevant entry year and the place available matter more than a single generic application pattern.
