Cleve House has served South Bristol since 1937 and has occupied its Wells Road building since 1947. The house was built in 1887 as Arcadia, associated with Bristol entrepreneur Charles Beavis. The school later added a nursery, hall, music room and conservatory playroom, and remains co-educational through secondary education.
The curriculum combines literacy and numeracy with science, humanities, Spanish, personal development, art, design technology, physical education, music and computing. Older pupils can follow the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, centred on links between subjects, practical work and independent learning.
Daily life includes specialist games teaching in football, rugby, tennis, cricket, netball and athletics, plus swimming at Jubilee Pool from Reception. Trips, residentials, gardening, dancing, baking, building and music take learning beyond lessons; regular communication with parents is part of its partnership approach.
Cleve House accepts applications at different stages. Its policy describes a non-selective process, with reports requested where appropriate and early-years entry focused on the prime areas of learning. The secondary provision uses the Middle Years Programme for pupils aged 11 to 16.
