Overview

Claremont Fan Court School in Esher grew from two connected histories. Claremont School moved to the Esher estate in 1931, while Fan Court School was founded in 1932 as a preparatory school for boys. The schools later joined as one co-educational school, and today's house names still recall those earlier places.

The senior curriculum is broad in Years 7 and 8, with English, mathematics, modern languages and science at its centre. Classics, creative and performing arts, technology, humanities and social sciences add breadth; from Year 9, pupils usually study five compulsory GCSE subjects and five options.

The Esher site combines its historic mansion with purpose-built learning spaces. The Sir Sydney Camm building houses science and technology, while sport and clubs are fitted around the school day. Junior pupils can choose activities including fencing, bushcraft, ballet and forest school.

Year 7 is the main senior entry point. Applicants complete English and verbal reasoning, mathematics and non-verbal reasoning, creative writing and an interview, alongside a recent school report. Claremont describes the process as gently selective; academic, sport, creative-arts and community scholarships are available, as are bursaries and financial assistance.
