Overview

Three stages define Claires Court's diamond model: co-educational younger years, separate senior education for boys and girls, then a shared Sixth Form. Founded in Maidenhead in 1960 by David and Josephine Wilding as a boys' day prep school, it welcomed girls in 1993 and opened its co-educational Sixth Form in 1994.

Nursery, juniors, senior sections and Sixth Form now span ages 2 to 18 across three Maidenhead sites. Senior teaching uses one-hour lessons and common tasks for year groups, while individual pupils can follow a personalised curriculum within the larger structure. The result is a through-school with a deliberate change of pattern at senior level.

Scheduled co-curricular time brings Forest School, work on the river or lake, the Combined Cadet Force, Duke of Edinburgh's Award, sailing, paddling, art, drama, music, craft, technology and sport into the week. These activities give the day-school model a practical, outdoor and creative dimension.

Entry is selective and handled directly, with reports, references, interview and a pupil's potential considered. Scholarships for Years 7, 8 and 9 and Sixth Form cover academic work, music, sport, art and drama. Registration is required before assessment.
