John Carpenter's fifteenth-century bequest gave City of London School its starting point, and that long civic history still informs the modern boys' education. The City setting forms part of the school's identity without defining the whole experience.
The school opened on Milk Street in 1837 and moved to Queen Victoria Street in 1987. Academic work is paired with pastoral care and a stated ambition to achieve highly without unnecessary pressure.
